A log peeler machine is core pretreatment equipment for wood processing, papermaking and biomass production industries.
There are two mainstream types of wood peeler: vertical and horizontal models. They differ greatly in processing adaptability for logs in terms of size, wood species, shape, and moisture condition.
Applicable Log Size Range
The vertical wood debarker (SL-260, SL-300) processes straight logs with a diameter of 50–300 mm, suitable for single standard log processing. The horizontal wood debarker (SL-S500 to SL-S800) features wider size adaptability, handling logs of 50–500 mm in diameter and 2–6 m in length. It supports batch processing of logs, branches and root wood.
Suitable Wood Species
A log peeler adapts to both softwood and hardwood. Softwood such as pine and fir can be peeled efficiently without parameter adjustment. For hardwood including oak, birch and eucalyptus with thick, tight bark, simply increasing blade pressure enables the log peeler to achieve a peeling rate above 95%.
Adaptable Log Shape and Moisture
The vertical log peeler is only applicable for straight logs. In contrast, the horizontal log peeling machine can process logs with a curvature within 8%, as well as slightly curved trunks and forked branches. Besides, the log peeler machine works well with dry logs, fresh wet logs and optimal semi-humid logs (20%–40% moisture) via simple parameter tuning.
Unprocessable Materials
A log peeler machine cannot handle over-sized logs beyond model limits, ultra-short wood fragments below 2 meters, severely twisted knotted logs and rotten wood, which may cause equipment jamming and material waste.
